Robert Kiihne began his museum career nearly 40 years ago. He served as the Director of Exhibits at the USS Constitution Museum from 2000 until 2025. Over the years he has also worked with historic houses, history museums and children’s museums.
As the Project Director of the Family Learning Project at the USS Constitution Museum, Robert led a team that interviewed and observed thousands of families interacting with unfacilitated history exhibits. The project included advisors Lynn Dierking , Minda Borun and Beverly Sheppard. Over the next decade Robert implemented the lessons learned with great success at the Museum. Later projects included the exhibit Forest to Frigate which integrated STEM into the early history of USS Constitution.
Over the years Robert has also worked with a number of museums including, The Concord Museum, The Scottish Rite Masonic Museum & Library, Connecticut Landmarks, Boston Children’s Museum and others.
